Tencent Tightens Grip On Ubisoft

Chinese conglomerate Tencent is tightening its grip on French publisher Ubisoft with a sizeable investment.

In a statement, Ubisoft announced that Tencent will buy a 49.9% stake in Guilemot Brothers Limited, the company ran by Ubisoft’s co-founders.

“Tencent is a key shareholder partner for many of the industry’s leaders, who have created some of the most outstanding video games,” CEO Yves Guilemot said.

He also added that the transaction reinforces their ability to create strong value over the coming years.

This marks another company Tencent has invested into as part of expanding their reach outside of Chinese markets. Their most recent investment was with Elden Ring developer FromSoftware.
