Today, ASUS Republic of Gamers Malaysia officially announced the highly-anticipated ROG Zephyrus G14 ultraslim 14" laptop in Malaysia.
Of course, the most striking feature of the G14 are the 1,215 mini LEDs on the lid. Dubbbed the 'AniMe Matrix™', these LEDs allow you to bring personalisation to a whole new level. Along with 256 levels of brightness control, you will be able to import and customise your very own gifs, type text messages, turn your lid into a music visualiser, and even display notifications and system info like battery level.
The magnesium-aluminium alloy chassis is ultra compact and portable at only 17.9mm thin and 1.6kg, which is extremely impressive considering that the G14 packs serious horsepower beneath the hood. Inside, you'll find up to the Ryzen 4900HS, a 35-watt, 8-core/16-thread CPU, and up to an RTX 2060 discrete GPU augmented by ROG Boost up to 1298MHz at 65W. These components are complemented by up to 32GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and up to 1TB of NVMe SSD for blazingly fast speeds.
Display-wise, you'll have the option to pick between a high refresh rate or high resolution. Gamers can opt for a fluid 120hz display, while content creators will benefit from the WQHD option. Both displays are Pantone validated for colour accuracy, and cover 100% of the sRGB colour gamut
The G14 is the first ROG laptop to feature ASUS' iconic Ergolift hinge, which not only tilts the laptop to a more ergonomic angle, but also allows more room for vents to breathe. Cooling is supported by fans with 0.15mm-thin copper fins and a network of 5 heatpipes.
It is also capable of being powered by DC or USB-C input, which means that lighter work can be powered by up to a 65W Type-C adapter, instead of the heavier 180W unit required to power the discrete CPU. The Type-C port with power delivery also supports DisplayPort 1.4, while the HDMI 2.0b port supports up to 4K monitors or TVs. There's also a second Type-C port plus 2 more Type-A ports for connectivity.
The G14 is also the first ROG laptop with fingerprint login integrated into the power button. If there are multiple users, the OS automatically detects the right account. Other features include Wi-Fi 6 supports and a Dolby Atmos quad speaker setup.
Prices start from RM4,499 for the variant without the AniMe Matrix LEDs, and goes up to RM7,699 for the highest end models. Some variants are available immediately, while some will arrive in August and September 2020.
