Design

The realme 13+ 5G is beautifully crafted with an emphasis on user super-speed performance while gaming, dubbing it the Victory Speed design. The phone comes in three different colour choices for people to choose from: the Speed Green, Dark Purple and the Victory Gold, which is the version that I received. In terms of the three options, I much prefer this colour as I feel like it gives it a regal appearance compared to the other two options. The realme 13+ 5G also comes with an interesting golden design, resembling a fast-paced racetrack, just below the camera.

The realme 13+ 5G has an ultra-slim and lightweight design with a dimension of 161.7 x 74.7 x 7.6mm and it has a weight of 185g. The phone has been designed with durability in mind as well as it comes with IP65 Dust and Water Resistance which ensures that dust and water sprays from entering the device. In addition to this, the device also supports Rainwater Smart Touch, meaning that even if the device gets hit by water, it would not carry out any unintended touch action. Overall, the design of the realme 13+ 5G has really impressed me, not just in terms of its sleek appearance, but also the incredible design that it comes in.

Display

The realme 13+ 5G features a 6.67-inch OLED Esports display with an impressive peak brightness of 2000 nits, allowing users to be able to have a good viewing experience even while outdoors under the bright lights. Furthermore, with its 120 Hz refresh rate and a 1080 x 2400 FHD+ resolution, you’ll be able to enjoy smooth and high responsive gameplay while gaming on the device.

Additionally, the realme 13+ 5G screen  not only provides vibrant displays, but it also offers a silky-smooth touch responsiveness. The device comes with an impressive 1200 Hz Turbocharged Touch Sampling Rate which guarantees that the subtlest of touches would be captured, and it’ll also ensure that your controls and movements will be precise while playing.

However, while the screen display for the realme 13+ 5G is incredible, one flaw that I found was that fingerprint marks tend to easily appear on the screen, and considering that mobile gaming requires you to touch the screen, this means that the fingerprint marks will often be present.

Performance

The realme 13+ 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300E processor in order to deliver high-quality performances with low power usage even when playing games on the device. It also comes with up to 26GB Dynamic RAM, supporting a maximum expansion of 12GB + 14GB, alongside 512GB of storage space.

Furthermore, with the realme 13+ 5G, you’ll be able to achieve peak performances, especially when gaming, as it comes with an enhanced GT Mode, powered by flagship GT technology. This will mark the GT Mode’s debut in the Number Series as it used to be exclusive to the realme GT series. With it, users will be able to enjoy an elevated gaming experience with optimised speed and responsiveness.

With it, you’ll be able to get a smooth gaming experience at 90 FPS for several major games such as PUBG, Free Fire, Mobile Legends with Honor of Kings at 120 FPS.

Besides that, asides from just enhancing your gaming performance, the new GT Mode also comes with many unique features for users to use, some of these features can help enhance your overall gaming experience such as the Geek Power Tuning, which enables users to be able to adjust the CPU and GPU frequency at any time, as well as the Game Focus Mode, which disables all notifications and allows you to fully focus on your game without needing to deal with any distractions.

Meanwhile, some other features can be used for fun such as the Voice Changer, where you’ll be able to choose fun character voices and communicate with your teammates in-game.

Additionally, another point which highlights the phone’s incredible gaming performance would be the fact that it is the industry’s first phone that is certified by TÜV SÜD for Lag-free Mobile Gaming, ensuring that users will be able to game comfortably without dealing with any lag issues.

Gaming Test

The main highlight for the realme 13+ 5G would be its performance for gaming, seeing as its dubbed as the Gaming Dominator. As such, I decided to test this by running some game tests on the phone. I used a total of three games in order to measure the performance and frame rate while playing on the device for one hour. The three games that were selected were Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Honor of Kings and Free Fire.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang might be one of the biggest games within the country, and the performance on the game was splendid as there were no issues with lag, nor were there any problems with the movement in-game as well. Furthermore, throughout an hour of gameplay, the average frame rate was at a decent 88.3fps even while playing the game at the highest settings.

Honor of Kings

The second game that I decided to test out was Honor of Kings, another MOBA game that has been making waves in Malaysia since its launch. Similarly to Mobile Legends, I played the game at the highest settings and found no issues whatsoever when playing the game, and the game was recorded at an average frame rate of 118fps after an hour.

Free Fire

The final game that I used for testing was Free Fire, a battle royale game which is a game that has had some issues with lag, though you won’t have to deal with such problems using the realme 13+ 5G, just pure gaming at your own leisure. After an hour, the game was able to achieve an average FPS of 89.8fps.

Even after hours of gameplay, the phone still remains at a regular temperature and this is because the realme 13+ 5G also comes with a 6050mm² Vapour Cooling System, the segment’s best cooling system. This new cooling system is seen as an improvement to its predecessor seeing as it is 37% larger, and this ensures that the phone will be able to cool down at a faster rate even during intensive gaming sessions. This was showcased when playing the three games above, as the phone’s temperature maintained around 30-35° C. Thus, with this cool feature, you’ll be able to game on the realme 13+ 5G without worrying about your device overheating.

AI Features

In addition to its incredible performance in gaming, the realme 13+ 5G also comes with several AI features that would help make things easier for users. One of which would be the AI Clear Voice. With this feature, you’ll be able to filter out background noise during calls and it can be used for most communication applications.

The other AI feature that the phone introduces is the AI Smart Loop. With this feature, you’ll be able to easily share any images to your friends. All you have to do is long-press the selected content and drag the image to the side and select the appropriate app on the space wheel.

Battery

The battery for the realme 13+ 5G is another highlight worth mentioning. Even with its slim design, the phone is still able to come with a decent 5200mAh battery, allowing users to be able to game for longer periods without needing to charge it often. This is an improvement to its predecessor, the realme 12+ 5G which featured a 5000mAh battery.

I decided to test this out with an hour-long gaming session on Honor of Kings. After the hour was up, the result was rather impressive as only 11% of the battery was consumed during that time while in GT Mode. Similarly, in one hour, only 10% of the battery was consumed while playing Mobile Legends and 13% on Free Fire.

▲ After an hour of gameplay on Free Fire

The realme 13+ 5G also comes with a 80W Ultra Charge technology which complements the long-lasting battery of the phone, allowing users to be able to return back to their gaming session quickly. In just 5 minutes, the phone was able to charge up to 14% whereas it reached 41% in 15 minutes. Overall, it took 44 minutes for the phone to recharge all the way to 100%, which is really impressive.

In fact, with just a 10-minute charge, you’ll be able to enjoy games such as Free Fire for up to 2 hours and when the phone is fully charged, you’ll be able to game for 9 whole hours without fail.

Camera

While the realme 13+ 5G mainly focused on gaming performance, it still feature a decent camera setup as it features a 50MP SONY LYT-600 OIS Camera which allows you to be able to snap well-detailed and ultra-clear pictures.

It also comes equipped with a Light Fusion Engine which enables users to be able to capture more details on both light and shadow. Whether it’s during the day or night, you’ll be able to head out and capture rich and high-quality images with the camera of natural landscapes or even around urban areas.

Verdict

In conclusion, the realme 13+ 5G is an incredible new device which combines a mix of design and performance into a single phone. The phone ensures that you’ll be able to have an immersive gaming performance with its powerful processor, long-lasting battery and even its advanced vapour cooling system. The realme 13+ 5G comes at a relative cheaper price of RM1,399, and they also have a 512GB variant costing RM1,799. Overall, at a relatively low price of under RM1,800, I believe that the realme 13+ 5G is definitely something worth considering, especially if you’re an avid mobile gamer.
