The Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 series has been a solid choice for users who want a balance between power, portability, and premium design. This year’s model, the Yoga Pro 7 14ASP9, takes things up a notch with AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 365 processor, a stunning 14.5-inch OLED display, and a well-built aluminum body. Designed for productivity, creativity, and even some gaming, this laptop aims to be a versatile companion for professionals and students alike, while also tapping into the new wave of AI-powered computing.

I’ve been using the Yoga Pro 7 for work, entertainment, and even some casual gaming to see if it truly delivers on its promises. Here’s an in-depth look at what this laptop has to offer.
Premium Design with a Slight Trade-Off in Portability
Right out of the box, the Luna Grey aluminum chassis of the Yoga Pro 7 gives off a sleek and modern aesthetic. The all-metal build makes it feel sturdy and premium, and unlike some ultrabooks with plastic elements, there’s little to no flex in the body. Whether you’re carrying it around or using it in a café, the laptop looks and feels expensive—something that professionals and students alike will appreciate.

However, portability is slightly compromised due to its weight and dimensions. Weighing 1.54kg, it is heavier than some competing 14-inch laptops. While this added weight contributes to better cooling and performance, it may not be the lightest option for those who prioritize ultra-portability. That being said, it still fits comfortably into most backpacks and remains a practical choice for carrying around.
The hinge is another well-designed aspect of the laptop. It opens quite smoothly and allows the screen to open a full 180 degrees, which is useful if you’re collaborating with colleagues, presenting something on-screen, or simply adjusting the angle for a more comfortable viewing position. The hinge is firm and stable, so you won’t experience unnecessary wobbling when typing or adjusting the screen.

A Stunning OLED Display That Elevates the Experience
One of the biggest highlights of the Yoga Pro 7 is its 14.5-inch 2.8K OLED display. The first thing you’ll notice is how vibrant and sharp everything looks. Whether you’re watching movies, browsing social media, or working on design projects, the deep blacks, rich colors, and 120Hz refresh rate make the experience feel premium.

For content creators, the display covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, meaning you get accurate and true-to-life colors. If you do photo editing, video editing, or any design work, this screen is more than capable of meeting professional standards.
One minor downside is the glossy finish, which means you might get some reflections in bright environments. If you often work near windows or under strong lighting, this could be something to consider. However, in controlled indoor settings, the screen is absolutely gorgeous.

It’s also worth mentioning that this is not a touchscreen laptop. While touchscreens can be useful for some users, many still prefer the traditional non-touch experience for better battery life and sharper visuals. If you don’t rely on touch functionality, this won’t be an issue.
AI-Powered Performance That Handles It All
Under the hood, the Yoga Pro 7 is powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor and integrated Radeon 880M graphics, paired with 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of SSD. This combination makes it a highly capable machine for multitasking, office work, creative applications, and even light gaming. The memory slots are soldered so users looking for better power will not have the option to upgrade.
For everyday tasks like web browsing, document editing, and video conferencing, the laptop runs flawlessly without any slowdowns. When it comes to more demanding applications like photo and video editing, it performs well, although users working with high-resolution 4K videos may find that a dedicated GPU would be preferable.
You can also toggle between 3 power modes based on your usage preference. Benchmark tests result with scores of 7509 and 7617 respectively for the PCMark 10 and PCMark 10 Extended under Performance Mode. The laptop also perform quite well even under Battery saver mode, scoring 7299 on the PCMark 10 test. So leaving it on Adaptive power mode (Auto) is would give you the best possible performance while maximising battery life.
Gaming on this laptop is surprisingly decent, given that it does not have a discrete graphics card. Titles which are more reliant on CPU like Dota 2 and Valorant run smoothly at medium settings without major frame drops. However, for AAA games with demanding graphics, settings will need to be lowered significantly to achieve playable frame rates.
Thermals are well-managed, with the laptop running cool and quiet during everyday use. Under heavy loads, such as gaming or video rendering, the device does warm up, but not to uncomfortable levels. The fans do ramp up, but they remain within an acceptable noise range.
A Comfortable Typing and Navigation Experience
The Yoga Pro 7 features a 1.5mm key travel keyboard, making it comfortable and responsive for long typing sessions. The keys are well-spaced, tactile, and relatively quiet, making them ideal for working in shared spaces or quiet environments. The keyboard also comes with a two-level white backlight, which is useful for working in dimly lit conditions. However, some users might notice a slight light bleed from the edges of the keycaps, which can be distracting in very dark settings.

The large glass touchpad is also well-executed. It is smooth, accurate, and responsive to gestures, making navigation feel effortless. However bigger palm users like me might accidentally hit the touchpad frequently due to the orientation being slightly to the left so it will take some time to get used to. There is no fingerprint sensor on this laptop, meaning you’ll have to rely on Windows Hello facial recognition for biometric login. The facial recognition works well most of the time, but in low-light conditions, it can sometimes struggle to recognize your face.

Impressive Battery Life with Fast Charging
Battery life is one of the Yoga Pro 7’s strong points, thanks to its 73Wh battery. A day of work outside, around 7 hours including an 1-hour break, consumes around 42% of the battery, for light to moderate tasks, such as web browsing, document editing, and media streaming, so you definitely wouldn't need to worry even if you forget your charger.

Charging is also fast and efficient. The included 100W USB-C charger can charge the laptop up to 80% in under an hour, and Lenovo’s Rapid Charge Express gives you three hours of usage with just a 15-minute charge. This is especially useful when you need a quick boost before heading out.
Audio Performance That Surpasses Expectations
Lenovo has equipped the Yoga Pro 7 with a quad-speaker setup consisting of two woofers and two tweeters, tuned with Dolby Atmos. The audio quality is surprisingly rich, with clear vocals and a decent amount of bass for a laptop in this category.

The volume gets fairly loud without major distortion, making it suitable for casual media consumption. However, at maximum volume, there is a slight loss of clarity, particularly with bass-heavy tracks. For the best audio experience, headphones are still recommended, especially for music enthusiasts.
Connectivity – Plenty of Ports, but No SD Card Slot
The Yoga Pro 7 offers a good selection of ports, which is refreshing compared to many ultrabooks that have started eliminating them. On the left side, there are two USB-C ports (USB4 & USB 3.2), an HDMI 2.1 port, and a headphone/microphone combo jack. On the right side, there is a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port and a webcam e-shutter switch for added privacy.

The inclusion of HDMI and USB-A is a welcome addition, as many premium laptops have removed these in favor of USB-C only. However, there is no SD card slot, which could be a drawback for photographers or video editors who frequently transfer files from cameras. Another minor inconvenience is that charging is only possible via the USB-C ports on the left side.
Final Verdict – A Strong Contender in the Premium Ultrabook Market
With a RRP of RM7499, the Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 (14ASP9) is a fantastic all-rounder that strikes a balance between performance, design, and usability. The stunning OLED display, AI-powered AMD processor, solid battery life, and comfortable keyboard make it an excellent choice for professionals, students, and creatives.

While the slightly heavier build and the lack of an SD card slot may be minor drawbacks, they do not overshadow the laptop’s overall appeal. If you’re looking for a premium Windows laptop that blends power with portability, the Yoga Pro 7 is a strong contender in its price range.
