Fnatic Onic PH clinches the Philippines' fifth consecutive M Series at the M6 World Championship!

The M6 World Championship Grand Finals, held on December 14, saw Fnatic Onic Philippines (FNOP) defeat Team Liquid Indonesia (TLID) 4:1 in a best-of-seven series. This victory secured the Philippines' fifth consecutive M Series title since 2021 and capped FNOP's unbeaten M6 run, earning them the largest share of the $1 million prize pool.

Selangor Red Giants finished third after losing to TLID in the Lower Bracket Finals on December 14, ending their hopes of achieving the Golden Road by winning all major MLBB titles in a single year.

FNOP Gold Laner, Duane "Kelra" Pillas, was awarded the Grand Finals Most Valuable Player (FMVP). The rest of FNOP comprises Jann Kirk “Kirk” Solcruz Gutierrez (EXP Laner), King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez (Jungler), Frince Miguel “Super Frince” Ramirez (Mid Laner), Borris James “Brusko” Parro (Roamer), and Brian Milez “SpiderMilez” Santos (Roamer). Anthony Dennis “Ynot” Senedrin leads the team as the Head Coach and Jeniel “YellyHaze” Bata-Anon is the Assistant Coach.

The M Series is the premier tournament in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports. Its sixth edition, M6, showcased an expanded prize pool and adopted the Swiss Format to enhance competition among the world's top esports teams.

FNOP's historic win at Axiata Arena drew over 7,000 spectators and reached 4.129 million peak concurrent viewers, making M6 the third most-popular M Series in history. The tournament also saw a 66% rise in average viewership, with 709,919 viewers, according to Esports Charts.

Artyom Odintsov, the CEO of Esports Charts, highlighted M6's impressive growth, with a 66% rise in average viewership compared to M5 and TikTok contributing 31% of total watch hours. The expanded co-streaming program also boosted community involvement, increasing community casting's viewership share from 18% to 24%. While not record-breaking, M6 showcased MLBB esports' growing popularity and strong audience engagement.

M Series returns to the home of the biggest MLBB fans.

The M Series will return to Jakarta, Indonesia, for the M7 World Championship in January 2026, two years after it was last hosted there during M4. This announcement was made at the M6 Summit, MOONTON Games' annual industry conference held alongside each M Series.

Bambang Sunarwibowo, Executive Chairman of the Indonesian Esports Federation (PB ESI), expressed optimism that M7 will enhance Indonesia's global esports presence, showcase local talent, and solidify the country’s position as Asia’s esports hub. He also hopes the event will inspire the youth to view esports as a promising industry, offering opportunities as athletes, creators, and other roles within the ecosystem.

M7 will commence after the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, slated for December 2025. MLBB was recently announced as the Games' first esports title and is the only esports medal event with male and female divisions.

New year, New logo, New MLBB region!

On the same day, MOONTON Games introduced a new MLBB logo, featuring flame-inspired details to represent gamers' passion and competitive spirit. The game recently surpassed 1.5 billion global registrations.

Additionally, MLBB is set to officially launch in China in January 2025, paving the way for increased participation from Chinese players and teams in professional and global tournaments, solidifying the region's presence in MLBB esports.

MLBB returns to the Esports World Cup

As part of MLBB's 2025 Roadmap, the Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2025 and Women's Invitational (MWI) 2025 were announced as key events within the Esports World Cup (EWC). These tournaments will be held between the two halves of the MLBB Professional League (MPL) seasons, with the first running from March to June and the second from August to November.

Fabian Scheuermann, Chief Games Officer of the Esports World Cup Foundation, expressed enthusiasm for MLBB's return to the Esports World Cup. He highlighted the success of the MLBB Mid-Season Cup and Women’s Invitational, which captivated fans worldwide, and emphasized the strong partnership with MOONTON Games. Scheuermann looks forward to welcoming MLBB’s global community back to Riyadh and delivering even more memorable experiences for players and fans on the international esports stage.
